Leviticus Chapter 16

Leviticus

Chapter

16

1. The LORD spoke to Moses after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they drew near before the LORD and died. 2. The LORD said to Moses: Tell your brother Aaron not to come just at any time into the sanctuary inside the curtain before the mercy seat that is upon the ark, or he will die; for I appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat.

(Leviticus Chapter 16 verses 1 to 2)

Oh God it seems that after the death of his two sons Aaron became lax in his observance of the rules that You had given him and ended up in being disobedient and rebellious in the sense of making offerings during times when Your presence was not on the mercy seat in order to avoid contact with You.

I can imagine oh God what Aaron must have felt due to the death of his sons. I can even understand Your feelings when we killed Your only Son on the cross. I pray for many people who have become lax and bitter after having experienced the death of their loved ones. I pray especially for a colleague of mine, who has recently experienced the loss of her husband. I pray oh God that You give healing and comfort to such people.

I invite all of those who have experienced such a loss to join me in the following song in memory of the loss of our loved ones:-

3. Thus shall Aaron come into the holy place; with a young bull for a sin offering and a ram for a burnt offering. 4. He shall put on the holy linen tunic, and shall have the linen undergarments next to his body, fasten the linen sash, and wear the linen turban; these are the holy vestments. He shall bathe his body in water, and then put them on. 5. He shall take from the congregation of the people of Israel two male goats for a sin offering, and one ram for a burnt offering.

(Leviticus Chapter 16 verses 3 to 5)

When we offer prayers to You oh God or when we attend for communion or the confessing of our sins, we are to be prepared spiritually and even physically so that we be totally clean and prepared to meet You oh God. One might question how we can be clean spiritually when we are going to confess our sins by which we are stained. If we have the right attitude and frame of mind You oh God will sees us in a wilful state of repentance feeling sorry about our sins and this is a positive environment for repentance.

6. Aaron shall offer the bull as a sin offering for himself and for his house.

(Leviticus Chapter 16 verse 6)

Oh God this is a very important verse for us all. When the priest offers your body and blood during communion in Church he is making an offering both for himself and for us. In fact the priest or celebrant makes a declaration that he is making the offering based on such intentions. In order to view the priest proclaiming this prayer please click on the following link that gives a step by step description of the Holy Mass.

The description of the Holy Mass

7. He shall take the two goats and set them before the LORD at the entrance of the tent of meeting; 8. and Aaron shall cast lots on the two goats, one lot for the LORD and the other lot for Azazel.

(Leviticus Chapter 16 verse 7 to 8)

Oh God as Aaron was to offer You the goat as a symbol of atonement for his laxity in his observance of the role that You assigned him, You chose to offer Your one and only Son for the redemption of our sins. Your Son became the goat of Azazel which was the scapegoat for all the sins that the people had committed and so even in Your Passion which was the sacrifice of sacrifices.

9. Aaron shall present the goat on which the lot fell for the, and offer it as a sin offering; 10. but the goat on which the lot fell for Azazel shall be presented alive before the LORD to make atonement over it, that it may be sent away into the wilderness to Azazel.

(Leviticus Chapter 16 verses 9 to 10)

The decision making process is very interesting. Aaron drew lots in order to decide which of the goats was to be the sin offering and which of the goats was to be the one used as a scapegoat to be used as a means of atonement. When it is time to make important and at times even trivial decisions and even after mass I open my bible randomly and read the first verse that I find, You always have a message for me. When the situation is really important I repeat the process three times and the three sentences are all related to the issue. I thank You God for giving me such a method.

During the time of the passion Pilate also had to discern between You and Judas. Judas was the sin offering for one person that of himself and his crime, however You were the scapegoat for You were to be sacrificed for the sins of the whole world covering all the sins since the beginning of time to its end. Thank You for being an offering even for my sins oh Father!

11. Aaron shall present the bull as a sin offering for himself, and for his house; he shall slaughter the bull as a sin offering for himself.

(Leviticus Chapter 16 verse 11)

As in the offering Your blood and body in the sacrament of the Eucharist, the Priest or celebrant offers the sacrifice for his own sins and for that of the congregation before him. I thank You oh God for giving us priests and other celebrants who could be used by You to transform the offerings into You. Amen.

12. He shall take a censer full of coals of fire from the altar before the LORD and two handfuls of crushed sweet incense, and he shall bring it inside the curtain 13. and put the incense on the fire before the LORD, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is upon the covenant, or he will die.

(Leviticus Chapter 16 verses 12 to 13)

Oh God as in the case of Aaron our offerings can likewise bet he toil of our occupations even if we are mothers or fathers working at home to bring up a family or others who are enduring the stress of a full time job! This could be symbolised by the burning coals which may also symbolise our burning sins. On the other hand the sweet incense are our prayer time which rise before You as if in a cloud. Oh God everyday of my life I offer these moments of prayer on behalf of both myself and even that of others and the world in general, for we are all in need of You and Your presence.

14. He shall take some of the blood of the bull, and sprinkle it with his finger on the front of the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat he shall sprinkle the blood with his finger seven times.

(Leviticus Chapter 16 verse 14)

Although we may not be able to offer such bloody and gory sacrifices, everyone in our own ways can offer some of our time with others as a form of reparation, however this can never substitute the act of confession of our sins. This is only an additive to the sacrifice.

15. He shall slaughter the goat of the sin offering that is for the people and bring its blood inside the curtain, and do with its blood as he did with the blood of the bull, sprinkling it upon the mercy seat and before the mercy seat. 16. Thus he shall make atonement for the sanctuary, because of the uncleanness es of the people of Israel, and because of their transgressions, all their sins; and so he shall do for the tent of meeting, which remains with them in the midst of their uncleanness.

(Leviticus Chapter 16 verses 15 to 16)

Oh God even though we become defiled with sin, You do not abhor us and become detached on Your relationship with us. You love us so much that You always give us the opportunity to repent from our sins. I thank You for being so caring and merciful amen.

17. No one shall be in the tent of meeting from the time he enters to make atonement in the sanctuary until he comes out and has made atonement for himself and for his house and for all the assembly of Israel.

(Leviticus Chapter 16 verse 17)

Oh God the time of confession is very precious, for during this time we share our innermost feelings and sins in Your presence which is represented by the presence of the priest. I believe that Your Spirit is also present in the confessional for the priest has the authority to forgive sins only in Your Name and not in his own.

18. Then he shall go out to the altar that is before the LORD and make atonement on its behalf, and shall take some of the blood of the bull and of the goat, and put it on each of the horns of the altar. 19. He shall sprinkle some of the blood on it with his finger seven times, and cleanse it and hallow it from the uncleanness of the people of Israel.

(Leviticus Chapter 16 verse 18)

Oh God when we sin as active members of the Roman Catholic Church especially if we occupy particular places of responsibility and even if not, atonement is to be made for the Church as a whole, this is why we constantly need to pray for the holiness of both priests and all Christians and Roman Catholics at large. Amen

19. He shall sprinkle some of the blood on it with his finger seven times, and cleanse it and hallow it from the uncleanness's of the people of Israel.

(Leviticus Chapter 16 verse 19)

Oh God by means of verse 19 of the book of Leviticus You remind me that I am always to remain open for forgiveness against those who have trespassed against me. Moreover You also remind me that every day I am to be happy to drink from the chalice of bitterness from which not even You were spared at the garden of Gethsemane.

20. When he has finished atoning for the holy place and the tent of meeting and the altar, he shall present the live goat, and confess over it all the iniquities of the people of Israel, and all their transgressions, all their sins, putting them on the head of the goat, and sending it away into the wilderness by means of someone designated for the task. 22. The goat shall bear on itself all their iniquities to a barren region; and the goat shall beset free in the wilderness.

(Leviticus Chapter 16 verses 20 to 22)

Oh Lord my God and Father I thank You again and again from the bottom of my heart that You chose to take on Yourself all my sins and those of the world until the end of time. This was indeed the sacrifice of all sacrifices. Thanks for choosing to be our scapegoat and not letting us experience what we deserved meaning the eternal fires of hell that as sinners we all merit and qualify for.

23. Then Aaron shall enter the tent of meeting, and shall take off the linen vestments that he put on when he went into the holy place, and shall leave them there. 24. He shall bathe his body in water in a holy place, and put on his vestments; then he shall come out and offer his burnt offering and the burnt offering of the people, making atonement for himself and for the people.

(Leviticus Chapter 16 verses 23 to 24)

Oh God even though we are not priests we are to do our best to preserve the purity of our soul. Our lives are to be one continuous offering. Moreover as in the cleansing of the special vestments we are to keep clean our souls and our selves so that we can be of service to others.

25. The fat of the sin offering he shall turn into smoke on the altar. 26. The one who sets the goat free for Azazel shall wash his clothes and bathe his body in water, and afterward may come into the camp. 27. The bull of the sin offering and the goat of the sin offering, whose blood was brought in to make atonement in the holy place, shall be taken outside the camp; their skin and their flesh and their dung shall be consumed in fire. 28. The one who burns them shall wash his clothes and bathe his body in water, and afterward may come into the camp.

(Leviticus Chapter 16 verses 25 to 28)

Oh God as in the case of the waste products of the sacrificial animal that were taken outside of the camp, You were also taken outside of the camp and crucified on the mount. I thank You for becoming a sort of waste product that was worth to be rejected instead of us. Oh God how humble You can be. I pray that I grow in this virtue of humility amen.

29. This shall be a statute to you forever; In the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you shall deny yourselves, and shall do no work, neither the citizen nor the alien who resides among you. 30. For on this day atonement shall be made for you, to cleanse you; from all your sins you shall be clean before the LORD. 31. It is a sabbath of complete rest to you, and you shall deny yourselves; it is a statute forever.

(Leviticus Chapter 16 verses 29 to 31)

Oh God how I wish the Sabbath was every day, for I greatly need to deny myself, and let You take total control of my life. I would be more free to do Your will if I am free of the drives, aims goals and wishes of my sinful self. I pray that one day You will purify me from my self and clothe me with a new self that is based totally on You. Amen.

32. The priest who is anointed and consecrated as priest in his father's place shall make atonement, wearing the linen vestments, the holy vestments.

(Leviticus Chapter 16 verse 32)

It was according to Your will oh God, that the Priest is to be married. Moreover the sons could carry on after their fathers and so the priesthood would never end. On reflecting oh God I hold that even during our times priests are to be permitted to marry as in protestant churches.

33. He shall make atonement for the sanctuary, and he shall make atonement for the tent of meeting and for the altar, and he shall make atonement for the priests and for all the people of the assembly. 34. This shall be an everlasting statute for you, to make atonement for the people of Israel once in the year for all their sins. And Moses did as the LORD had commanded him.

(Leviticus Chapter 16 verses 33 to 34)

During the celebration of the Holy Eucharist the priest or celebrant makes atonement both for himself and for the assembly who are those people who are in Church attending for the celebration. This is the first step which takes place in the beginning of the celebration in order to prepare us for the rest of the celebration and makes us worthy to receive You.

Oh God my Father I would like to end this chapter with the following prayer.

This evening I pray for all the Church. We need You more than ever. I pray that You send new vocations for the priesthood especially when considering that many priests and friars are of an age, especially in Malta and in many countries in the world. When considering that priests are Your representatives on earth we are to show them the same love and respect that we show to You.

Leviticus Chapter 15

Leviticus

Chapter

15

1. The LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying: 2. Speak to the people of Israel and say to them: When any man has a discharge from his member, his discharge makes him ceremonially unclean.

(Leviticus Chapter 15 verse 1 to 2)

Oh God I thank You for showing love and care even regarding issues such as the following that may be overlooked and of no value.  I thank You for making me aware that such symptoms, may be due to an infection in my member, that in such cases requires treatment. For more information I invite the male readers of this chapter to refer to the following link that is very interesting.

3. The uncleanness of his discharge is this: whether his member flows with his discharge, or his member is stopped from discharging, it is uncleanness for him.

(Leviticus Chapter 15 verse 3)

The two criteria as established by God in relation to discharge are the following: overflow of discharge as in the case of infection or maybe masturbation or maybe a prohibition of the use of condoms which stops the flow of discharge and which is a form of contraception. Oh God You are the God of life and not of death, therefore You are in favour of safe sex when done according to Your will, and not of the abortion of the sexual contact when it is in its proper context, that is in an environment of marriage.

4. Every bed on which the one with the discharge lies shall be unclean; and everything on which he sits shall be unclean.

(Leviticus Chapter 15 verse 4)

Anybody who comes in contact with the infected fluid shall carry the bacteria from that fluid, therefore precautions were to be taken not to enable it to spread. However even in the case of the spread of sin and sinful acts which are also infectious measures should also be taken such as confession of our sins  in order to promote and ensure a radical change of our sinful ways.

5. Anyone who touches his bed shall wash his clothes, and bathe in water and be unclean until the evening.

(Leviticus Chapter 15 verse 5)

As in the case of Leprosy anybody who comes in contact with the discharge will be contaminated and needs to be cleansed or else will be considered as being unclean until the required time has passed.

6. All who sit on anything on which the one with the discharge has sat shall wash their clothes and bathe in water, and be unclean until the evening.

(Leviticus Chapter 15 verse 6)

In order not to spread the infection of the discharge in the case that it is a case of contamination oh God You ordered that no contact whatsoever was to be made with anything that the unclean person has come in contact with. With reference to people who are unhealthy for us to be in contact with it is also healthy to keep our distance, especially those who may influence us to abandon our faith in You my God.

7. All who touch the body of the one with the discharge shall wash their clothes, and bathe in water and be unclean until the evening.

(Leviticus Chapter 15 verse 7)

As in the case of sin and the sinful act, our acts oh God do not have negative consequences on our selves but also on those who are close to us.

8. If the one with the discharge spits on persons who are clean, then they shall wash their clothes, and bathe in water, and be unclean until the evening.

(Leviticus Chapter 15 verse 8)

In order not to spread germs or bacteria You made a law that discouraged people from spitting at others, especially those of us who are already unclean due to the contamination of their discharge.

9. Any saddle on which the one with the discharge rides shall be unclean. 10. All who touch anything that was under him shall be unclean until the evening, and all who carry such a thing shall was their clothes, and bathe in water, and be unclean until the evening.

(Leviticus Chapter 15 verses 9 to 10)

As in the case of sin, the person who is carrying the stain of the discharge may contaminate others as in the case of the person with leprosy, however although the consequences are less serious compared the measures taken in the case of leprosy, the risk of physical and spiritual contamination is still at risk. Therefore we are always to be on our guard.

11. All those whom the one with the discharge touches without his having rinsed his hands in water shall wash their clothes, and bathe in water, and be unclean until the evening. 12. Any earthen vessel that the one with the discharge touches shall be broken; and every vessel of wood shall be rinsed in water.

(Leviticus Chapter 15 verses 11 to 12)

In order to safeguard physical cleanliness the good habit of cleaning ones hand often was practised, from a spiritual point of view, the practise of confessing our sins is also a must or good habit for us to keep in order to safeguard our spiritual welfare.

In order to refer to specific details please click on the following link:-

Body fluids and the Genitals

13. When the one with a discharge is cleansed of his discharge, he shall count seven days for his cleansing; he shall wash his clothes and bathe his body in fresh water, and he shall be clean.

(Leviticus Chapter 15 verse 13)

Oh God even though the discharge may have been a natural cause this is still considered as being worthy of cleansing for it is still considered as being a negative act. However one might ask the fatal question "Is masturbation a sin according to the Word of God?" In this respect our source has the following to share with us:-

Is Masturbation a sin?

14. On the eight day he shall take two turtledoves or two pigeons and come before the LORD to the entrance of the tent of meeting and give them to the priest. 15. The priest shall offer them, one for a sin offering and the other for a burnt offering; and the priest shall make atonement on his behalf before the LORD for his discharge.

(Leviticus Chapter 15 verses 14 to 15)

After the time of ones purification and cleansing is over, although it is a minor offence and not as serious as in the case of Leprosy, the 'penitent' still needs to make an offering in order to achieve atonement both for himself and for the community who is also effected by his sins.

16. If a man has an emission of semen, he shall bathe his whole body in water, and be unclean until the evening.

(Leviticus Chapter 15 verse 16)

Such emissions could be the case of wet dreams where a man ejects semen involuntarily, a situation over which the person has no control, therefore when considering the nature of the discharge the consequences are not that harsh.

17. Everything made of cloth or of skin on which the semen falls shall be washed with water, and be unclean until the evening

(Leviticus Chapter 15 verse 17)

If not for the sake of spiritual contamination, physical hygiene is also to be safeguarded. I thank You God for taking all into consideration when giving us such laws.

18. If a man lies with a woman and has an emission of semen, both of them shall bathe in water, and b e unclean until the evening.

(Leviticus Chapter 15 verse 18)

Oh God how nice is the sexual act when it is done with the right partner as in marriage. You look upon it with pleasure because as a result of that semen new life is generated according to Your will. The reason that You made this rule is to preserve physical cleanliness and therefore no harsh penalty is invoked on the two participants. In fact this is proved by the fact that You oh Father even permitted the couple to even bathe together after the episode of the discharge!

19. When a woman has a discharge of blood that is her regular discharge from her body, she shall be in her impurity for seven days, and whoever touches her shall be unclean until the evening.

(Leviticus Chapter 15 verse 19)

Oh God on reflecting You made such laws in order to protect women from having contact or being abused by men, during this delicate time of a woman's life that is constant and even uncomfortable and at times even embarrassing if the discharge comes during a sensitive moment for instance at work and one happens to be wearing a white skirt or dress. I understand oh God that by proclaiming her as being in a state of impurity You are instilling fear in those who come in contact with her and so this helps to act as a deterrent in her favour. I thank You oh God for making provisions even for such situations and for loving us so much.

20. Everything upon which she lies during her impurity shall be unclean; everything also upon which she sits shall be unclean. 21. Whoever touches her bed shall wash his clothes, and bathe in water, and be unclean until the evening.

(Leviticus Chapter 15 verses 20 to 21)

In order to avoid contamination oh Jesus you promoted this law, as a safeguard in order to protect both the person and others in her surroundings. When we are in deep sin or even venial sin we are also to be careful not to contaminate others by spreading a bad example by means of our sinful act.

22. Whoever touches anything upon which she sits shall wash his clothes, and bathe in water, and be unclean until the evening; 23. whether it is the bed or anything upon which she sits, when he touches it he shall be unclean until the evening.

(Leviticus Chapter 15 verses 22 to 23)

During any circumstances of our lives we are to keep our distance from coming in contact with sin from any perspective under any form because this will contaminate our spirits. Amen.

24. If any man lies with her, and her impurity falls on him, he shall be unclean seven days; and every bed on which he lies shall be unclean.

(Leviticus Chapter 15 verse 24)

In order to preserve the woman's purity, oh God You gave us this order and not to label the woman as being impure and shame her. Oh God You love the woman so much that You Yourself chose to be born as a human from the womb of a woman.

25. If a woman has a discharge beyond the time of her impurity, all the days of the discharge she shall continue in uncleanness; as in the days of her impurity, she shall be unclean.

(Leviticus Chapter 15 verse 25)

Oh God You created everything according to a perfect order in both the natural and supernatural and as humans we are to obey and respect that order. However if we continue to disobey and meddle with all that You created we are bound to bring upon ourselves the consequences of our disobedience.

26. Every bed on which she lies during all the days of her discharge shall be treated as the bed of her impurity; and everything on which she sits shall be unclean, as in the uncleanness of her impurity.

(Leviticus Chapter 15 verse 26)

Oh God a woman in her cycle is like a leaking tap; leaving traces of blood everywhere she goes. On the other hand a person who is living a negative lifestyle is also a source of contamination because everywhere he or she goes the risk that someone observes and imitates the negative acts is always possible. Therefore it is always good to be on our guard over ourselves when we come across such people and pray for them instead of judging them or becoming part of their circles.

27. Whoever touches these things shall be unclean, and shall wash his clothes, and bathe in water, and be unclean until the evening.

(Leviticus Chapter 15 verse 27)

Oh God the risks of being contaminated by sin are so great, that You raised the awareness on a general level so that we all remain or become aware of the risks and consequences.

28. If she is cleansed of her discharge, she shall count seven days, and after that she shall be clean. 29. On the eighth day she shall take two turtledoves or two pigeons and bring them to the priest at the entrance of the tent of meeting. 30. The priest shall offer one for a sin offering and the other for a burnt offering, and the priest shall make atonement on her behalf before the LORD for her unclean discharge. 31. Thus you shall keep the people of Israel separate from their uncleanness, so that they do not die in their uncleanness by defiling my tabernacle that is in their midst.

(Leviticus Chapter 15 verses 28 to 31)

Oh God for many forms of sinful acts You ordered a form of sacrifice to be offered as an act of atonement. You love us so much that You wish that we will never be distance between us due to our sinful acts. For this oh God my Father I really thank You from the bottom of my heart.

32. This is the ritual for those who have a discharge; for him who has an emission of semen, becoming unclean thereby, 33. for her who is in the infirmity of her period, for anyone, male or female, who has a discharge, and for the man who lies with a woman who is unclean.

(Leviticus Chapter 15 verses 32 to 33)

These are the rules governing the following circumstances. I wish to end this chapter with the following prayer:-

Oh God I pray for people who have problems with issues such as masturbation and unfaithfulness in marriage. I pray for all the families in the world especially those who are haunted by such issues that may bring the family to an end, so that oh God You will bless these families with Your healing grace and heal those effected by these conditions. I also pray for those families who for some reason are unable to have children. I pray that if it is for their own good, oh God You can reverse the negative symptoms and bless them with children. I also pray for those women who for some reason are leading a life of prostitution so that You will show them their beauty and teach them to respect their bodies and turn back to You Amen.

Leviticus Chapter 14

LEVITICUS

CHAPTER

 14

1.  The LORD spoke to Moses, saying: 2. This shall be the ritual for the leprous person at the time of his cleansing; He shall be brought to the priest; 3. the priest shall go out of the camp, and the priest shall make an examination. If the disease is healed in the leprous person, 4. the priest shall command that two living clean birds and cedarwood and crimson yarn and hyssop be brought for the one who is to be cleansed.

(Leviticus Chapter 14 verses 1 to 4)

Although nothing is mentioned on the means by which Leprosy was to be cured it seems oh God that the healing was coming from You and that there were in fact to be cases of healing otherwise You would not have given us the following instructions in relation to the ritual concerning the cleansing from such a disease.

I thank You oh Jesus for making the initial step to come to us.  I also would like to thank You for others who pushed me in Your direction during my moments of exodus when the waves were smashing against my small  and fragile boat. As in the case of the person with Leprosy it is the high priest who in Your name was given the authority to proclaim the cleansing. I pray oh God that You permit no worldly power to interfere or meddle with anything that is Yours. Alot of damage has already been done as in the case of the introduction of divorce in Malta. Although I am aware that even if other laws are issued You are still in control, I pray that many others will not have their faith affected by such repercussions.

5. The priest shall command that one of the birds be slaughtered over fresh water in an earthen vessel. 6. He shall take the living bird with the cedar wood and the crimson yarn and the hyssop, and dip them and the living bird in the blood of the bird that was slaughtered over the fresh water.

(Leviticus Chapter 14 verses 5 to 6)

Oh God you love us so much that you accept us back even though we sin and sin again and become spiritually dead. However instead of shedding our blood in order to compensate for our sins You chose to shed Your own blood in order to achieve our redemption and proclaim our healing from the impurity of sins.

7. He shall sprinkle it seven times upon the one who is to be cleansed of the leprous disease; then he shall pronounce him clean, and he shall let the living bird go into the open field.

(Leviticus Chapter 14 verse 7)

Oh Jesus Son of the living God thank You for saving us with Your living blood that was shed throughout Your passion many times in many different places. As the bird that was dipped in the blood was permitted to fly away and continue to shed blood, Your Holy Spirit is all the time covering areas of the world according to need and consecrating us with Your Holy blessings. I thank You God for never stopping acting on our behalf and for showering us with Your grace, mercy and blessings.

8. The one who is to be cleansed shall wash his clothes, and shave off all his hair, and bathe himself in water, and he shall be clean. After that he shall come into the camp, but shall live outside his tent seven days.

(Leviticus Chapter 14 verse 8)

The person who was cleansed still had to make an act of faith. This person was to cleanse himself of all possible traces of the disease by washing and shaving, however as a safety precaution the person was still not allowed to live in his tent. I can just imagine a man who was separated from his family due to the disease. This person sees his family but is not allowed to reconcile with them. On the other hand I imagine oh God that I am allowed to enter heaven. While there I see You and the rest of my family from a distance, however I am not yet ready to be reunited with You and other friends or family. This would be more painful, because I have a strong urge to be with You oh God. I pray that when the time comes I will be really and truly ready to be in Your presence. I pray that you help me in enduring the trials of life and the urges and challenges offered both on a physical, psychological and even spiritual level for temptations never stop harassing me.

9. On the seventh day he shall shave all his hair; of head, beard, eyebrows; he shall shave all his hair; Then he shall wash his clothes, and bathe his body in water; and he shall be clean.

(Leviticus Chapter 14 verse 9)

Once the person has been tested again and again rather intensively for several weeks the person is confirmed as being clean but officially he is not yet allowed to venture inside the camp. As in the case of Christians when a person has made such a comeback especially when considering ones previous life, the penitent will be prepared to be welcomed as a newly born Christian in the Roman Catholic Church or any Church if the system permits this concept. Oh God we find it easily to condemn a person because of ones past people such as criminals however, when they have endured their period of processing they are also to be given the opportunity of being accepted in society if so even with a celebration in order tom commemorate such a grand occasion of conversion.

10. On the eighth day he shall take two male lambs without blemish, and one ewe lamb in its first year without blemish, and a grain offering of three-tenths of an ephah of choice flour mixed with oil, and one log of oil.

(Leviticus Chapter 14 verse 10)

Oh God if a leper was processed so intently how much more and with how much more intently is a sinner to be processed before being accepted back into the Church. However as You had told us a feast would be held in heaven for every person who turns away from ones sinful ways. Therefore a banquet awaits us in the presence of our father, this is a goal that we must seek to aim for.

On browsing through the Internet God gave me the following rite that is applied in order to accept new Christians in the Roman Catholic Church. I invite you to click on the following link:-

Rite of acceptance of new Christians

11. The priest who cleanses shall set the person to be cleansed, along with these things, before the LORD, at the entrance of the tent of meting. 12. The priest shall take one of the lambs, and offer it as a guilt offering, along with the log of oil, and raise them as an elevation offering before the LORD.

(Leviticus Chapter 14 verses 11 to 12)

Oh God I admire the fact that You always give priority to the cleansing of the sin before the actual cleansing of the disease in the body, for many times our sins contribute to physical illness, therefore it is proper to place the energy on the core part of the issue. All in all the body will someday experience and end, however the soul will remain forever therefore it is always to be given a priority over the body. I thank You oh God for having made us according to this perfect model of body and soul which complement each other and function best in a state of harmony.

13. He shall slaughter the lamb in the place where the sin offering and the burnt offering are slaughtered in the holy place; for the guilt offering, like the sin offering, belongs to the priest: it is most holy.

(Leviticus Chapter 14 verse 13)

Oh God it would be a great idea for us to offer an offering to the Church in relation to the greatness of our sins. This would act as a deterrent against the committing of mortal sins.

14. The priest shall take some of the blood of the guilt offering and put it on the lobe of the right ear of the one to be cleansed, and on the thumb of the right hand, and on the big toe of the right foot.

(Leviticus Chapter 14 verse 14)

As in the case of the consecration oft the new high priest and the brazen altar, the person who has been cured from leprosy is not only declared clean but is again consecrated to You my God. This is the case with us sinners, you love us so much that You give us the means to be reunited with You as your sons and daughters.

15. The priest shall take some of the log of oil and pour it into the palm of his own left hand, 16 and dip his right finger in the oil that is in his left hand and sprinkle some oil with his finger seven times before the LORD.

(Leviticus Chapter 15 verse 16)

Oh God I offer You all my senses that You may refine and consecrate them for Your service. I offer You my ears that they may always be receptive to receive all that You wish to pass on to me by means of people and particular circumstances of my life. I offer You all that makes me who and what I am basically a sinner so that You can make a better product out of my weakness. If You want you can make saints out of sinners, so may Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

17. Some of the oil that remains in his hand the priest shall put on the lobe of the right ear of the one to be cleansed, and on the thumb of the right hand, and on the big toe of the right foot, on top of the blood of the guilt offering.

(Leviticus Chapter 14 verse 17)

Oh God I thank You for the one of the most important days of my life, which was that of my baptism. During this day as in the case of the person with leprosy I was consecrated totally to You. I was anointed with the consecrated oil which reflects Your holiness, however during Your passion You again consecrated me with Your blood which was the means that led to my salvation. I compare the oil oh God to the moments of happiness which I dedicate to You and even those moments of trials symbolised by the blood, which I also live for You and are dedicated to You. Oh God may You consecrate every second of my life, may I live it all for You and not for myself. Amen.

18. The rest of the oil that is in the priest's hand he shall put on the head of the one to be cleansed. Then the priest shall make atonement on his behalf before the LORD: 19. the priest shall offer the sin offering, to make atonement for the one to be cleansed from his uncleanness. Afterward he shall slaughter the burnt offering and the grain offering on the altar. Thus the priest shall make atonement on his behalf and he shall be clean.

(Leviticus Chapter 14 verse 20)

Oh merciful God and loving father I offer to You my thoughts wishes and desires. May all my thoughts be centred on Your will. May you consecrate my brain so that only good thoughts wishes and desires come from it. I would also pray for more self control, for I still lack in this area of my life oh Jesus. I pray that you will consecrate me as a whole and even those who meditate on this blog that is based on Your word  If anybody wishes to join me in this prayer please click on the following link:-

A prayer of consecration of our lives to God

21. But if he is poor and cannot afford so much, he shall take one male lamb for a guilt offering to be elevated, to make atonement on his behalf, and one-tenth of an ephah of choice flour mixed with oil for a grain offering and a log of oil; 22. also two turtle doves or two pigeons, such as he can afford, one for a sin offering and the other for a burnt offering.

(Leviticus Chapter 14 verses 21 to 22)

In order for us to achieve a complete state of healing and cleanliness You ordered a sacrifice to cater both for the physical recovery as in the case of the disease of leprosy and also to compensate for emotional damage such as that of guilt. Once we are free of of the bondage of our sins we are totally free again, new sons and daughters of God worthy of Your love and kindness.

23. On the eighth day he shall bring them for his cleansing to the priest, to the entrance of the tent of meeting, before the LORD; 24. and the priest shall take the lamb of the guilt offering and the log of oil and the priest shall raise them as an elevation offering before the LORD.

(Leviticus Chapter 14 verses 23 to 24)

As in the case of baptism the person who had been cleansed from Leprosy was welcomed to the entrance of the tent which was a prominent place, especially when compared that as an unclean person he was compelled to live outside the tent, far away from the presence of God. In contrary when we marry the priest comes to welcome us at the main door of the Church. I pray oh God that when I die You also come to meet me at the gate of heavens with a smiling face and welcome me to my heavenly home if this is Your will for me, for we all wish to go to heaven.

25. The priest shall slaughter the lamb of the guilt offering, and put it on the lobe of the right ear of the one to be cleansed, and on the thumb of the right hand, and on the big toe of the right foot.

(Leviticus Chapter 14 verse 25)

Oh God even though these verses have been repeated over and over again they still are enough to make me aware of the need to receive Your blessings so that I will always walk in Your ways and use in my hands to bless and pray and for work to be of service to others and never to use them to perform negative acts that are contrary to Your will.

26. The priest shall pour some of the oil into the palm of his own left hand, 27. and shall sprinkle with his right finger some of the oil that is in his left hand seven times before the LORD.

(Leviticus Chapter 14 verse 26 to 27)

Again and again the high priest is portrayed in the role of consecrating the cleansed person. It is as if this is a constant protection against the possibility of coming in contact again with leprosy. On the other hand the consecration may be that of restoring ones dignity after having contracted leprosy and had been segregated from the camp. Again and again You accept us and forgive us our sins and accepting us back into Your family as sons and daughters. Thanks for being so merciful.

28. The priest shall put some of the oil that is in his hand on the lobe of the right ear of the one to be cleansed, and on the thumb of the right hand, and the big toe of the right foot, where the blood of the guilt offering was placed. 29. The rest of the oil that is in the priest's hand he shall put on the head of the one to be cleansed, to make atonement on his behalf before the LORD. 30. And he shall offer, of the turtle-doves or pigeons such as he can afford, 31 one for a sin offering and the other for a burnt offering, along with a grain offering; and the priest shall make atonement before the LORD on behalf of the one being cleansed. 32. This is the ritual for the one who has a leprous disease, who cannot afford the offerings for his cleansing.

(Leviticus Chapter 14 verses 28 to 32)

Oh God Your healing is complete. Moreover You wish us to be whole persons, therefore the cleansed person was consecrated on the left and on the right side of his body thus being a whole offering to You. As a human I also offer You the left and right side of my brain that controls my whole body in what I think and do. During confession You also forgive us as whole persons and not as pieces. I thank You for Your loving kindness and forgiveness oh God.

33. The LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying: 34. When you come into the land of Canaan, which I give you for a possession, and I put a leprous disease in a house in the land of your possession, 35. the owner of the house shall come and tell the priest, saying, "There seems to me to be some sort of disease in my house." 36. The priest shall command that they empty the house before the priest goes to examine the disease, or all that is in the house will become unclean; and afterward the priest shall go in to inspect the house.

(Leviticus Chapter 14 verses 33 to 36)

Oh God it was according to Your will that the ministry of Your priesthood would continue to exist when Your people entered the land that You had long since promised them. This priesthood was upgraded by Your Son which You permitted to develop into the priesthood as found in the Roman Catholic Church.

On the other hand during such opportunities of disease the priest can examine the property of the foreigners dwelling in that household. On reflecting oh God during such moments of crisis or even thanksgiving You may also make profit of the opportunity to visit our spiritual and even physical household in order to inspect what may be making our spiritual life unclean. As Christians oh God we come to Your house  in order to be cleansed.

37. He shall examine the disease; if the disease is in the walls of the house with greenish or reddish spots, and if it appears to be deeper than the surface, 38. the priest shall go outside to the door of the house and shut up the house for seven days.

(Leviticus Chapter 14 verses 37 to 38)

Oh God this may seem to be rather strange to have leprosy in the walls of the house. I never imagined that this was possible, however if, You say so it is true. As in the case of Leprosy sin can also spread in the structure of our life and can even destroy the very foundations, therefore we are always to be careful and root out any signs of sin on first encounter.

39. The priest shall come again on the seventh day and make an inspection; if the disease has spread in the walls of the house, 40. the priest shall command that the stones in which the disease appears to be taken out and thrown into an unclean place outside the city.

(Leviticus Chapter 14 verses 39 and 40)

Oh Jesus many rocks in the Roman Catholic Church are showing signs of leprosy in the sense that there are those priests and others who have either been caught in cases of abuse or publicly proclaim that they are homosexuals. As in the case of leprosy these rocks are to be removed, for their symptoms of Leprosy might continue to spread among other members of the Roman Catholic Church and cause further harm. However when Your Church appears at its weakest it is at its strongest point, for You told us that when are weak You will makes us strong, for You will defend us against the one and only source of evil that harasses us throughout each day of our lives.

41. He shall have the inside of the house scraped thoroughly, and the plaster that is scraped off shall be dumped in an unclean place outside the city.

(Leviticus Chapter 14 verse 41)

At times in our lives we need to perform basic maintenance. The walls of our soul also need to be cleaned. This is why we need to confess our sins so that we can paint a new fresh coat of paint. However we cannot be renewed if we do not treat ourselves of the sins and wounds of the past. God you are our maintenance person. You help us to scrape off our old self and put on the new self based on You and Your self, for we cannot keep our old self if, we want to be healed and changed.

42. They shall take other stones and put them in the place of those stones, and take other plaster and plaster the house.

(Leviticus Chapter 14 verse 42)

If we are not suitable to carry out our prescribed roles or as in the case of those priests who violated their roles, You God will call new vocations in order to replace such people, so that your body on earth will be kept clean from signs of contamination. However both in myself and both in others as humans we will always have parts of us that need improving therefore we are considered as being works in progress. Every day of our life oh Father you inspect us and make us aware of the changes that need to be done.

43. If the disease breaks out again in the house after he has taken out the stones and scraped the house and plastered it, 44. the priest shall go and make inspection; if the disease has spread in the house, it is spreading leprous disease in the house; it is unclean.

(Leviticus Chapter 14 verses 43 and 44)

As the head of the Roman Catholic Church the Pope who is the high priest is to interview and investigate all cardinals and priests, and order the dismissal of all those who are not clean or have issues of abuse. Such unclean stones are causing the spread of this disease in the house and thus making it unclean.

45. He shall have the house torn down, its stones and timber and all the plaster of the house, and taken outside the city to an unclean place. 46. All who enter the house while it is shut up shall be unclean until the evening; 47. and all who sleep in the house shall wash their clothes; and all who eat in the house shall wash their clothes.

(Leviticus Chapter 14 verses 45 to 47)

Any of us who have been warned time and time again of our wrong doings as in the case of people in responsible positions, will be removed from their positions if they are found unworthy of carrying or the roles assigned to them. Anybody who comes in contact with such people will risk becoming contaminated by them therefore as a precaution it is important to keep our distance from such negative people.

48. If the priest comes and makes an inspection, and the disease has not spread in the house after the house was plastered, the priest shall pronounce the house clean; the disease is healed.

(Leviticus Chapter 14 verse 48)

The plastering of the house which is a new layer of protection for the stone which has now been cured oh God may be compared to the instruction or catechism in the faith that we may receive after a period of abstinence due to our spiritual leprosy before we can be introduced back into the Church. This may be a lengthy process for it takes time and a process of drying for the plaster to grip on the wall and become a part of it. So is the same with our faith. It takes time for to grow in our relationship with You after a long period of dryness, but once the plaster has dried up it becomes a solid mass that only or sins that are like a chisel can destroy.

49. For the cleansing of the house he shall take two birds, with cedarwood and crimson yarn and hyssop, 50. and shall slaughter one of the birds over fresh water in an earthen vessel, 51. and shall take the cedarwood and the hyssop and the crimson yarn, along with the living bird and dip them in the blood of the slaughtered bird and the fresh water, and sprinkle the house seven times.

(Leviticus Chapter 14 verses 49 to 51)

Oh God that You will come into our homes and lay your hands in order to bless all of us and all of those who visit us. I pray for the blessing of Your Holy Spirit so that it will cleanse us of any iniquity or evil spirit that has found its way into our household. Amen.

52. Thus he shall cleanse the house with the blood of the bird, and with the fresh water, and with the cedarwoord and hyssop and crimson yarn; 53 and he shall let the living bird go out of the city into the open field; so he shall make atonement for the house, and it shall be clean.

(Leviticus Chapter 14 verses 52 to 53)

Oh Jesus I thank You for coming to my house in order to bless it during the time of Easter in the presence of the priest. I believe that even during this time of prayer You are present and by Your presence You are blessing this house and all who live and visit it. Amen. May Your presence be always present in our dwelling Amen.

54.  This is the ritual for any leprous disease; for an itch, 55. for leprous diseases in clothing and houses, 56. and for a swelling or an eruption or a spot, 57. to determine when it is unclean and when it is clean. This is the ritual for leprous diseases.

(Leviticus Chapter 14 verses 54 to 57)

This chapter ends with a final declaration that this is the approved procedure to be taken in the case of the eventuality of leprous disease itching or swelling present in different environments. As in the case of the Roman Catholic Church there are dogmas and beliefs that are to be accepted as they are and are not to be contested. This is the case of Science, Psychology, Medicine and many other areas, where a violation of such rules can result in a catastrophic end.

I wish to end this chapter with the following prayer:-

Oh God I pray for the whole world. This world which is being contaminated by sin which is taking many different forms. I pray for legislators so that they will administer justly and not accept and legislate laws that are contrary to Your teachings as in the case of divorce and mixed marriages.  I pray for a revolution in social trends and that we may all become aware that we are twisting our values to cater for our needs which at times are worldly and not according to Your will. I pray for the healing of both myself and this sinful leprosy that is spreading throughout the world. Amen.

Leviticus Chapter 13

LEVITICUS

CHAPTER

13

1. The LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron saying: 2. When a person has on the skin of his body a swelling or an eruption or a spot, and it turns into a leprous disease on the skin of his body, he shall be brought to Aaron the priest or to one of his sons the priests.

(Leviticus Chapter 13 verses 1 to 2)

As in the case of the appearance of signs of physical disorder in the body, there can also e signs of spiritual disorder which may also have undesired consequences which also would be helpful to be referred to a priest or our spiritual director, so as in the case of the doctor in Your name You will guide us to healing by means of such people or even directly by Yourself.

3. The priest shalll examine the disease on the skin of his body, and if the hair in the diseased area has turned white and the disease appears to be deeper than the skin of his body, it is a leprous disease; after the priest has examined him he shall pronounce him ceremonially unclean.

(Leviticus Chapter 13 verse 3)

As in the case of sin, the Priest is given the authority by You oh God to judge if the case is of leprosy or the symptoms of a simple rash. In order to view the symptoms of leprosy please click on the following link:-

Symptoms of Leprosy

4. But if the spot is white in the skin of his body, and appears no deeper than the skin, and the hair in it has not turned white, the priest shall confine the diseased person for seven days.  5. The priest shall examine him on the seventh day, and if he sees that the disease is checked and the disease has not spread in the skin, then the priest shall confine him seven days more. 6. The priest shall examine him again on the seventh day, and if the disease has abated and the disease has not spread in the skin, the priest shall pronounce him clean: it is only an eruption, and he shall wash his clothes, and be clean.

(Leviticus Chapter 13 verses 4 to 6)

Oh thank You God for giving us a detailed explanation of the spread of leprosy. In Your infinite wisdom You motivated Moses and Aaron to establish the first form of quarantine ever.  If only we could do the same process for us when we are infected with sin. If only we could undergo a period of seclusion  during which we receive confession of our sins, praying over and maybe even counselling and fasting  up to the point of receiving our healing.

7. But if the eruption spreads in the skin after he has shown himself to the priest for his cleansing, he shall appear again before the priest. 8. The priest shall make an examination, and if the eruption has spread in the skin, the priest shall pronounce him unclean; it is a leprous disease.

(Leviticus Chapter 13 verses 7 to 8)

According to the following video clip the details and symptoms mentioned in these verses are confirmed from a medical perspective thus proving the proof of Your Word oh God. I invite you all to click on the following link:-

Stages of development of Leprosy

9. When a person contracts a leprous disease, he shall be brought to the priest. 10. The priest shall make an examination, and if there is a white swelling in the skin that has turned the hair white, and there is quick raw flesh in the swelling, 11. it is a chronic leprous disease in the skin of his body. The priest shall pronounce him unclean; he shall not confine him, for he is unclean. 12. But if the disease breaks out in the skin, so that it covers all the skin of the diseased person from head to foot, so far as the priest can see, 13. then the priest shall make an examination, and if the disease has covered all his body, he shall pronounce him clean of the disease; since it has all turned white he is clean.

(Leviticus Chapter 13 verses 9 to 13)

Oh God what a great responsibility You have assigned to the role of the priest. Even during our times the priest is a person who is proficient in many areas such as philosophy, theology and even counselling and psychiatry. I thank You oh God for giving Your priests such skills so that they can continue to be of service to You and to us and help us on many levels. May we all refer to such services  especially during ties of crisis instead of to the ways of the world.

14. But if raw flesh ever appears on him, he shall be unclean, 15. the priest shall examine the raw flesh and pronounce him unclean. Raw flesh is unclean, for it is a leprous disease. 16. But if the raw flesh again turns white, he shall come to the priest; 17. the priest shall examine him, and if the disease has turned white, the priest shall pronounce the diseased person clean. He is clean.

(Leviticus Chapter 13 verses 14 to 17)

As Roman Catholics, Christians and humans in general in a spiritual point of view we are all lepers, in the sense that sin makes us unclean. However as in the case of leprosy our symptoms also come and go. When we go to confession it is like when we are going to the high priest to be checked and declared as being clean, however if our sins our extremely serious the priest cannot declare us as being clean.

In order to obtain a deeper insight on this similarity I invite you to click on the following links:-

The confession process

Why we must confess our sins?

18.  When there is on the skin of one's body a boil that has healed, 19. and in the place of the boil there appears a white swelling or a reddish-white spot, it shall be shown to the priest. 20. The priest shall make an examination, and if it appears deeper than the skin and its hair has turned white, the priest shall pronounce him unclean; this is a leprous disease, broken out in the boil.

(Leviticus Chapter 13 verses 18 to 20)

As in the case of leprosy the priest at the time of confession may probe deeper into the issues that we present to him. This is an in depth examination with the hope of finding traces of sorrow in us that merits absolution of our sins and also the possible alternative to help us not repeat the particular issues again.

21. But if the priest examines it and the hair on it is not white, nor is it deeper than the skin but has abated, the priest shall confine him seven days.

(Leviticus Chapter 13 verse 21)

If again the priest examines the person and finds him to be better but still not beyond reasonable doubt the person is again confined for seven days. Thu is the same when a person is processed before an authority if the persons concerned are not satisfied they are entitled for re examination. God may not call us for a re examination however he may permit us to experience the same circumstances as before so that we may experience growth by means of them.

22. If it spreads in the skin, the priest shall pronounce him unclean; it is diseased. 23. But if the spot remains in one place and does not spread, it is the scar of the boil; the priest shall pronounce him clean.

(Leviticus Chapter 13 verses 22 to 23)

On the same criteria in relation to the causes and effects of sin or the sinful act, the priest also assesses if the sin is an isolated case or if there is a pattern to the extent that this act has had a negative impact on others causing serious  negative consequences.

24. Or, when the body has a burn on the skin and the raw flesh of the burn becomes a spot, reddish-white or white, 25. the priest shall examine it. If the hair in the spot has turned white and it appears deeper than the skin, it is a leprous disease; it has broken out in the burn, and the priest shall pronounce him unclean. This is a leprous disease

(Leviticus Chapter 13 verses 24 to 25)

Oh God sin comes in many sizes form and color which makes it look more attractive to us. Moreover some problems that we may experience may have more than one issue that is active in the situation. A person may be addicted to drugs and in order to sustain the addiction one is involved in a life of crime. As in the case of the burn that is one issue it may have the other symptoms showing that there are also clear indications of leprosy.

26.But if the priest examines it and the hair in the spot is not white, and it is no deeper than the skin but has abated, the priest shall confine him seven days. 27. The priest shall examine him the seventh day; if it is spreading in the skin, the priest shall pronounce him unclean. This is a leprous disease. 28.

(Leviticus Chapter 13 verses 26 to 28)

As in the case of Leprosy we are in need of going regularly for confession because the disease  or sin may appear again and again in a different area of our life, and the priest will be in an ideal position in the name of God to make us aware of such an appearance and guide us on to the path of becoming healed,

29. When a  man or woman has a disease on the head or in the beard, 30. the priest shall examine the disease. If it appears deeper than the skin and the hair in it is yellow and thin, the priest shall pronounce him unclean; it is an itch, a leprous disease of the head or the beard.

(Leviticus chapter 13 verses 29 to 30)

When we are deeply contaminated by sin our behaviour as in the colour of the hair in the skin changes. We start to think as based on that sinful way and even behave until we become totally possessed by that sinful act or behaviour,

31. If the priest examines the itching disease, and it appears no deeper than the skin and there is no black hair in it, the priest shall confine the person with the itching disease for seven days. 32. On the seventh day the priest shall examine the itch; if the itch has not spread, and there is no yellow hair in it, and the itch appears to be no deeper than the skin, 33. he shall shave, but the itch he shall not shave. The priest shall confine the person with the itch for seven days more.

(Leviticus chapter 13 verses 31 to 33)

In order not to spread further contamination the suspected effected parts were not to be shaved. Moreover this would destroy traces of the discoloured hair in the effected area which was a primary indicator of the presence of leprosy. In the case of the sinful act, the indicators of the sinful activity are to be controlled in order to stop the activity. This may determine if the activity will continue or not.

34. On the seventh day the priest shall examine the itch; if the itch has not spread in the skin and it appears to be no deeper than the skin, the priest shall pronounce him clean. He shall wash his clothes and be clean. 35. But if the itch spreads in the skin after he was pronounced clean, 36. the priest shall examine him. If the itch has spread in the skin, the priest need not seek for the yellow hair; he is unclean. 37. But if in his eyes the itch is checked, and black hair has grown in it, the itch is healed, he is clean; and the priest shall pronounce him clean.

(Leviticus chapter 13 verses 34 to 37)

As in the medical profession and many others oh God You have given us strict criteria which to follow in order to be on the right track on Your ways and not on those of the world. Among such criteria and regulations You gave us Your Commandments which if referred to and kept as strict rules we will be able to live a life that is according to Your holy  will.

38. When a man or a woman has spots on the skin of the body, white spots, 39. the priest shall make an examination, and if the spots on the skin of the body are of a dull white, it is a rash that has broken out on the skin; he is clean.

(Leviticus chapter 13 verses 38 to 39)

Throughout my time of prayer on this chapter oh God I have been itching and suspecting that I have contracted leprosy, however not all itches and abnormalities in the skin are indications of this disease. As in verses 38 to 39 the case could be that of a common rash which is no reason for alarm.

40. If anyone loses the hair from his head, he is bald but he is clean. 41. If he loses the hair from his forehead and temples, he has baldness of the forehead but he is clean. 42. But if there is on the bald head or the bald forehead a reddish-white diseased spot, it is a leprou disease breaking out on his bald head or his bald forehead.

(Leviticus chapter 13 verses 40 to 42)

When comparing leprosy to sin (not that it has anything to do with sins at least not proved yet!) oh God this illness is like negative thoughts that attack the head. The gateway of the brain can be compared to the forehead which is the centre part of the two halfs of the brain. Once sinful thoughts have infiltrated our brain they can keep on spreading throughout our holy body and even harm our soul. Therefore it is always healthy to be on guard against the transmission and reception of such sources in order to ensure our spiritual and even physical and psychological  welfare.

43. The priest shall examine him; if the diseased swelling is reddish-white on his bald head or on his bald forehead, which resembles a leprous disease in the skin of the body, 44. he is leprous, he is unclean.  The priest shall pronounce him unclean; the disease is on his head.

(Leviticus chapter 13 verses 43 to 44)

As much as the priest publicly confirms that the person is a leper due to his leprosy, I freely proclaim to all that I am a sinner, who is prone to sins as much and even more than anybody else. When I am praying on the Word of God I am harassed by many negative thoughts and desires, however You oh God are always with me, even though at times I am found weak when confronted by such situations. I pray oh God that during prayer time you anoint me with Your Holy Spirit and inflame my brain with positive thoughts and natural healthy desires instead of instant gratifications.

45. The person who has the leprous disease shall wear torn clothes and let the hair of his head be disheveled; and he shall cover his upper lip and cry out, "Unclean, unclean."46. He shall remain unclean as long as he has the disease; he is unclean. He shall live alone; his dwelling shall be outside the camp.

(Leviticus chapter 13 verses 45 to 46)

The person with leprosy was to wear particular clothes and live in a secluded place. Moreover the latter was to proclaim that he was unclean all the time until he was free from the disease. Now oh God if us sinners where to wear a badge or label around our necks or on our chests or breasts, that shows that we are sinners and proclaim ourselves as sinners everywhere we go, until we were free from that particular sin  It would be a very interesting situation for all would be wearing this badge and nobody would be able to judge anybody else.

47. Concerning clothing: when a leprous disease appears in it, in woolen or linen cloth, 48. in warp or woof of linen or wool, or in a skin or in anything made of skin, 49. if the disease shows greenish or reddish in the garment, whether in warp or woof in skin or in anything made of skin, it is a leprous disease and shall be shown to the priest.

(Leviticus chapter 13 verses 47 to 49)

It seems that even though the person with Leprosy covered himself up with fabric the disease still managed to show. This is also the case with sin. Although we try to conceal it in the best way we can, the truth will somehow always surface in the situation and become outstanding over the negative and sinful situation.

50. The priest shall examine the disease, and put the diseased article aside for seven days. 51. He shall examine the disease on the seventh day. If the disease has spread in the cloth, in warp or woof, or in the skin, whatever be the use of the skin, this is a spreading leprous disease; it is unclean. 52. He shall burn the clothing, whether diseased in warp or woof, woolen or linen, or anything of skin, for it is a spreading leprous disease; it shall be burned in fire.

(Leviticus chapter 13 verses 50 to 52)

For some reason the allotted days for examination were seven days which is also the amount of days God used to create the world. The world is a mixture of good and bad. There are positive agents such as God who is the creator of good, and there is the evil one who does all he can to contaminate the works of God. As in the case of the contents contaminated by leprosy, there also exists the fires of hell which is not a myth but a fact.

In relation to the reality of hell, purgatory and heaven I invite you to click on the following link:-

The reality of heaven and purgatory

The reality of hell

The reality of purgatory

53.If the priest makes an examination, and the disease has not spread in the clothing, in warp or woof or in anything of skin, 54. the priest shall command them to wash the article in which the disease appears, and he shall put it aside seven days more.

(Leviticus chapter 13 verses 53 to 54)

The priest orders the person with Leprosy to clean and discard anything that is suspected of being contaminated. From a perspective of sin we can take advantage of the sinful situation and by means of spiritual direction we can in a spirit of prayer be helped to discern positive traits from the same negative situation that we can use for our spiritual growth. A positive aspect may be doing voluntary work  with a person whom you were accused of hurting or stealing or even buying a nice present for the person concerned.

55. The priest shall examine the diseased article after it has been washed. If the diseased spot has not changed color, though the disease has not spread, it is unclean; you shall burn it in fire. whether the leprous spot is on the inside or on the outside.

(Leviticus chapter 13 verse 55)

During confession the priest sort of analyzes us week after week in order to see if there is any improvement in our behaviour. As a fact our internal behaviour that of the mind and the soul is manifested by our external behaviour that is by our actions, therefore the priest analyzes us on both levels,

56. If the priest makes an examination, and the disease has abated after it is washed, he shall tear the spot out of the cloth, in warp or woof, or out of skin. 57. If it appears again in the garment, in warp or woof, or in anything of skin, it is spreading; you shall burn with fire that in which the disease appears.

(Leviticus chapter 13 verses 56 to 57)

As in the case of sin leprosy may appear time and time again even if it appears to be totally cured. This proves the fact that as sick people we are always in need of You oh God, because You are our one and only healer.

58. But the cloth, warp or woof, or anything of skin from which the disease disappears when you have washed it, shall then be washed a second time it shall be clean.  59. This is the ritual for a leprous disease in a  cloth or linen, either in warp or woof, or in anything of skin, to decide whether it is clean or unclean.

(Leviticus chapter 13 verses 58 to 59)

As in the case of the ritual for people who have Leprosy, the Roman Catholic Church has its established rites in order to deal with sinners of different degrees. People such as You and me. In order to help us pinpoint our sins I have included this link which gives us an overview covering many forms of sins

Different types of sin

I would like to end this chapter with a special prayer for the husband of a colleague at work whose husband has a chronic heart condition and may be in need of a serious operation. I offer You the husband along with all the family, that oh God You will have mercy on this particular family and all who are enduring similar situations.

Leviticus Chapter 12

LEVITICUS

CHAPTER

12

1. The LORD spoke to Moses, saying: 2. Speak to the people of Israel, saying: If a woman conceives and bears a male child, she shall be ceremonially unclean seven days; as at the time of her menstruation, she shall be unclean.

(Leviticus chapter 12 verses 1 to 2)

Due to the fact that I am not a woman I cannot reflect on this issue, however according to the following video clip throughout the years the blood that is present during the menstrual cycle is referred to as being toxic and this may be one of the main reasons that prohibited women from being present in the camp during this critical time of their lives and even considered as being unclean. I invite you all to refer to the following video clip:-

3. On the eighth  day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.

(Leviticus chapter 12 verse 3)

The first born child was to be circumcised in the flesh because this meant an offering and dedication to You my God.  I pray oh God that not only the first born males be dedicated to You, but that we all will be ready to consecrate our lives to You and be holy because You Yourself wanted us to be holy like You. I therefore invite you the reader to share with me this beautiful song which in itself is a prayer of consecration to You oh God.

Prayer of consecration to God

4. Her time of blood purification shall be thirty-three days; she shall not touch any holy thing, or come into the sanctuary, until the days of her purification are completed.

(Leviticus chapter 12 verse 4)

Oh God You have all planned and accounted for up to every detail of our lives. Although women may be portrayed as being unclean and unholy during this period of their life, this is by no means discriminating against them. Due to the fact that this is a very uncomfortable and turbulent period of a woman's life You chose to have her secluded from entering the sanctuary. However this does not mean that You removed Your Holy Presence from women during this time. You love us all equally regardless of our gender, colour or race. Amen.

5. If she bears a female child, she shall be unclean two weeks, as in her menstruation; her time of blood purification shall be sixty-six days.

(Leviticus chapter 12 verse 5)

In order to place the importance or priority on the male child that was a symbol of You my God You may have ordered this rule which marks a discrepancy of a week in the time of blood purification between a male and a female offspring.

6.  When the days of her purification are completed, whether for a son or for a daughter, she shall bring to the priest at the entrance of the tent of meeting a lamb in its first year for a burnt offering, and a pigeon or a turtledove for a sin offering.

(Leviticus chapter 12 verse 6)

As is commonly known rules are there to be obeyed they bring order in a state of chaos and disorder. I thank You oh God for giving us such wise rules and counsel.

7. He shall offer it before the LORD, and make atonement on her behalf; then she shall be clean from her flow of blood. This is the law for her who bears a child, male or female. 8. If she cannot afford a sheep, she shall take two turtledoves or two pigeons, one for a burnt offering and the other for a sin offering; and the priest shall make atonement on her behalf, and she shall be clean.

(Leviticus chapter 12 verses 7 to 8)

As in the case of Your Mother Mary and her husband Joseph who were not rich in resources, they were eligible to offer the offering of turtle doves as an offering of atonement. Thank You oh God for making such provisions for both the well off and even for those who are not. I praise You that during our times confession of our sins is available for all who seek it regardless of one's financial situation.

I would like to end this chapter with the following prayer:-

Oh God my Father may we always seek to keep our souls in a state of purity, may we always desire to stay away from all sources both within and beyond anything that is of a hazard to our well being. Amen

Leviticus Chapter 11

LEVITICUS

CHAPTER

 11

1. The LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying to them: 2. Speak to the people of Israel, saying: From among all the land animals, these are the creatures that you may it.

(Leviticus chapter 11 verse 1)

As in the beginning humans were instructed on which creatures they could eat and others which for their own safety were considered as being unhealthy to consume. During the course of life oh God You also have shown us to discern many situations which were healthy and uplifting in comparison to others which were totally negative.

2. Speak to the people of Israel saying: From among all the land animals, these are the creatures that you may eat.

(Leviticus chapter 11 verse 2)

Oh God my father not only do You care for my spiritual welfare but even for my social, psychological and physical welfare. This is shown by the fact that you gave us a list of creatures that we are not to consume and moreover a list of the creatures that You created that are healthy and nutritious to eat in order to ensure our welfare.

3. Any animal that has divided hoofs and is cleft footed and chews the cud-such you may eat. 4. But among those that chew the cud or have divided hoofs, you shall not eat the following: the camel, for even though it chews the cud it does not have divided hoofs; it is unclean for you.

(Leviticus chapter 11 verses 3 to 4)

Oh God these verses had me totally stumped, however in a spirit of prayer You directed me to the following link that enlightened me on Your classification that distinguished from clean to unclean animals for human consumption along with the relative reasons. Therefore in order to have a better understanding of the Word of God in relation to the following verses please click on the following link

God's classification

5. The rock badger, for even though it chews the cud, it does not have divided hoofs; it is unclean for you.

(Leviticus chapter 11 verse 5)

In order for us to understand which animals were considered as clean from those which were considered as being unclean please refer to the following illustration which I have complied during my praying on this chapter. The basic criteria was that particular animals such as the pig that eats all sorts of garbage and carcasses and keeps the toxins in its fat was not to be consumed in order to preserve human welfare. In order to obtain a more in depth insight on such issue please click on the following link:-

Clean and unclean foods

Oh God You love us so much that You consider both our spiritual well being and even our physical well being. This means that our physical well being is also important issue that we are to respect and obey. I thank You God for raising such awareness.

Table of Clean and Unclean Foods

Clean

1. Fish with scales

Unclean

1. Camel:

Camels can live on anything even foul food therefore they are unhealthy for us to eat, on the other hand the camel keeps its urea and this is highly toxic instead of excreting it like the cow or humans as in going to toilet. please click on the following link The diet of a camel

2. Rock Badger:

The rock badger lives on vegetation and insects which may be harmful if consumed by humans. This may be one of the reasons why God prohibited us to eat these creatures for more information please click on the following link: Facts on Rock Badger

3. The hare: The rabbit or hare recycles its own waste and thus is highly toxic, for more detailed information please click on the following link and move marker on to 5:12 the link is the following:-

The reasons making the rabbit unclean

4. The Pig (Although care is taken in nurturing the pig is naturally unclean Pig farm documentary

5.  The mouse (For more information on unclean mice Unclean mice)

6. The great lizard according to its kind ( The great lizard)

7. The gecko (a form of lizard (A form of lizard habitat)

8. The land crocodile (An unhealthy scavenger eats anything Crocodile facts

9. The lizard (Unhealthy scavengers Lizard facts)

10. The sand lizard (Carnivores meat eaters Lizard fact sheet)

11. The chameleon (Chameleon fact sheet Fact sheet

12. The weasel (Weasel fact sheet Weasel fact sheet)

13. All swarming creatures and those who move on belly and have many feet

5. The eagle, the vulture, the osprey, . the buzzard, the kite of any kind;  every raven of any kind;  the ostrich, the night hawk, the sea gull, the hawk of any kind. the little owl, the cormorant, the great owl. the water hen, the desert owl, the carrion vulture. the stork, the heron of any kind, the hoopoe, and the bat.

6. The hare, for even though it chews the cud, it does not have divided hoofs; it is unclean for you.

(Leviticus chapter 11 verse 6)

Even though rabbits are commonly considered as being good to eat, You still classified them as being unclean even though they satisfied one of the two criteria. Now that You have given me the opportunity to browse on why the hare is considered as being unclean oh God I totally agree with You for a creature which licks the soft part of its its waste back into its body is surely unhealthy for us to consume. I thank You for the insight which has served me as a lesson for life.

7. The pig, for even though it has divided hoofs and is cleft-footed, it does not chew the cud; it is unclean for you. 8. Of their flesh you shall not eat, and their carcasses you shall not touch; they are unclean for you.

(Leviticus chapter 11 verses 7 to 8)

As already mentioned the pig is one of the top rated candidate as a harbinger of bacteria making it a live container of toxins that are harmful to human consumption. When considering that during the times of Moses the level of sanitation was still not fully developed, it was very important for the people to abstain from eating creatures and foods that would bring harm to them.

On reflecting this is the case of sin. Sin also has negative side effects when we come in contact with it. It may leave us scarred for life, therefore we are not even to come close or experiment with it.

9. These you may eat, of all that are in the waters. Everything in the waters that has fins and scales, whether in the seas or in the streams such you may eat. 10. But anything in the seas or the streams that does not have fins and scales, of the swarming creatures in the waters and among all the other living creatures that are in the waters-they are detestable to you 11. and detestable they shall remain. Of their flesh you shall not eat, and their carcasses you shall regard as detestable. 12. Everything in the waters that does not have fins and scales is detestable to you.

(Leviticus chapter 11 verse 9 to 12)

On reading the following verses oh God I could not understand the reasons for not allowing us to eat of such species. Therefore I referred to the biblical expert to maybe clear the clouds of my ignorance. Fishing happens to be my hobby and ever since I started fishing I choose fish above all other foods to eat. Therefore Invite you to click on the following link where our expert gives us valid reasons of which as in the other creatures labelled as being unclean these creatures recycle in their bodies their own waste and become highly toxic and unhealthy for human consumption.

The science behind clean and unclean foods

In order to get the adequate explanation please move the marker to 5:59 or else listen to it all for it is very interesting.

13. These you shall regard as detestable among the birds. They shall not be eaten; they are an abomination: the eagle, the vulture, the osprey, 14. the buzzard, the kite of any kind; 15. every raven of any kind; 16. the ostrich, the night hawk, the sea gull, the hawk of any kind; 17. the little owl, the cormorant, the great owl, 18. the water hen, the desert owl, the carrion vulture, 19. the stork, the heron of any kind, the hoopoe, and the bat.

(Leviticus chapter 11 verses 13 to 19)

As mentioned by our expert or source animals that fall under the category of scavengers all retain a high level of unhealthy toxins. Therefore what appears to be a very long list of boring names of animals that we cannot eat is in fact even supported by medical science and not only by God as being totally unhealthy for human consumption. This leads us to ask the ultimate question, according to God what is the ideal diet for us? As our source points out it is one consisting of a wide variety of fruit that contain the vitamins and minerals needed for daily life. The second part of our diet as mentioned in the bible are vegetables. Specifically after the waters of the flood had subsided God specifically referred to the fruits on the trees as being their primary source of nutrition.

20. All winged insects that walk upon all fours are detestable to you. 21. But among the winged insects that walk on all fours you may eat those that have jointed legs above their feet, with which to leap on the ground. 22. Of them you may eat: the locust according to its kind, the bald locust according to its kind, the cricket according to its kind, and the grasshopper according to its kind. 23. But all other winged insects that have four feet are detestable to you.

(Leviticus chapter 11 verses 20 to 23)

Among all the insects You permitted us to consume the mentioned type of insects, meaning locusts as in the case of John the Baptists who ate locusts in the desert as part of his daily diet, however the world in all its silliness and disobedience is promoting the consumption of detestable insects such as bugs and cockroaches as shown in the following link

Everything you need to know about insects

24. By these you shall become unclean; whoever touches the carcass of any of them shall be unclean until the evening, 25. and whoever carries any part of the carcass of any of them shall wash his clothes and be unclean until the evening.

(Leviticus chapter 11 verses 24 to 25)

In order to protect the people from illness as a consequences of contact with such unclean animals You proclaimed these laws that governed public sanitation. In order to protect our souls from contamination You also issued the sacraments by means of Your Holy Spirit which never stops working in order to give us the opportunity of becoming cleansed from our sins.

26. Every animal that has divided hoofs but is not cleft footed or does not chew the cud is unclean for you, everyone who touches one of them shall be unclean. 27. All that walk on their paws, among the animals that walk on all fours, are unclean for you; whoever touches the carcass of any of them shall be unclean until the evening, 28. and the one who carries the carcass shall wash his clothes and be unclean until the evening they are unclean for you.

(Leviticus chapter 11 verses 26 to 28)

It can be noticed that throughout our meditation on the book of Leviticus we have encountered several cases of repetition. As in the case of children and people with a low level of education as could have been the case of the people of God, repetition was necessary to facilitate the learning process. This technique is used also in schools and catechism where repetition helps to improve the parroting of prayers among children however the best prayers come from the heart and not from prayer books.

At times oh God may take You and Your word lightly, therefore we are also subject to being reminded that You are still our father and that we totally depend on You. However the most important reality for us humans to always keep in mind is that of the existence of hell and that one day that can be any day we are to leave this world and either heaven or hell will become our long term home. Therefore we are always to be prepared because according to the life that we live on earth, will be the choice of our long  term home. We are therefore always to keep on repeating this question to ourselves. Is my life oriented to live in heaven or hell? The answer is for us to think and pray about.

29. These are unclean for you among the creatures that swarm upon the earth; the weasel, the mouse, the great lizard according to its kind, 30. the gecko, the land crocodile, the lizard, the sand lizard, and the chameleon.

(Leviticus chapter 11 verses 29 to 30)

As referred to in the above links the mentioned creatures are unclean in themselves and feed on prey that are unclean like themselves thus making them unhealthy for human consumption. Even though Your people were still living in the desert you gave them instructions in relation to other land sea and air creatures. God prepares us before hand of imminent dangers along with their consequences the choices are ours to take.

31. These are unclean for you among all that swarm; whoever touches one of them when they are dead shall be unclean until the evening. 32. And anything upon which any of them falls when they are dead shall be unclean, whether an article of wood or cloth or skin or sacking, any article that is used for any purpose; it shall be dipped into water; and it shall be unclean until the evening, and then it shall be clean.

(Leviticus chapter 11 verses 31 to 32)

As is commonly known germs that have infested a dead animal or person tend to spread fast if we come in contact with that bacteria, therefore as safety precaution oh God You gave Your people this rule in order to preserve a healthy state of being. From a spiritual perspective a person who is in sin can also be compared to being contaminated by harmful bacteria. We become negative people so much that when we come in contact with others we tend to contaminate them with our negative thoughts, feelings and actions. Therefore as it is useful to wash our hands often to avoid physical contamination, it is also to seek confession often in order to preserve our spiritual well-being.

33. And if any of them falls into any earthen vessel, all that is in it shall be unclean, and you shall break the vessel.

(Leviticus chapter 11 verse 33)

Oh God in order to preserve a healthy environment You continue to emphasise this decontamination procedure that is also applied during our times. On a spiritual level this is also the case. If we are given items that may have been used in the black mass, or maybe called lucky charms which are not lucky at all we are to destroy these items and clean up the places where they had been stored. A friend of mine was given such an object. Up to the moment that she removed the object her life and that of her family was in a state of chaos.

34. Any food that could be eaten shall be unclean if water from any such vessel comes upon it; and any liquid that could be drunk shall be unclean it it was in any such vessel.

(Leviticus chapter 11 verse 34)

In the same sense when we will fully become involved in some sinful act, this negative circle of sin moves along with us and causes us to contaminate both ourselves and others by means of our thoughts and actions. The good news is that cleanliness is only a few steps away because we can always go and seek the confession of our sins.

35. Everything on which any part of the carcass falls shall be unclean; whether an oven or stove, it shall be broken in pieces: they are unclean, and shall remain unclean for you.

(Leviticus chapter 11 verse 35)

On reflecting I thank You God for this admonition, for even in our cases we store pork in fridges that may be unclean and these bacteria are transferred to any place in which it comes into contact, whether the fridge, the kitchen chopping board on which the food is processed, and even the oven where the food is  cooked.

In order to become aware of how germs spread please click on the following links:-

The spread of germs

The spread of germs from meat

36. But a spring or a cistern holding water shall be clean, while whatever touches the carcass in it shall be unclean.

(Leviticus chapter 11 verse 36)

In simple words oh Jesus You make a distinction between the primary source which is the water in the container which is clean in comparison to the contaminated carcass which when coming in contact with the water makes it unclean. It is the same in human nature. In us as in the case of the water we have the presence of Your Holy Spirit which is pure and clean, however on comparison there is the contrast when we sin we contaminate the body however the presence of Your Spirit in us unlike the water will always be clean.

37. If any part of their carcass falls upon any seed set aside for sowing, it is clean; 38. but if water is put on the seed and any part of their carcass falls on it, it is unclean for you.

((Leviticus chapter 11 verse 37)

Oh Jesus You are the only source that is able to make and keep us clean. If for one second You turn Your face away from us or we from You we end up unfruitful and even contaminated in both body and soul.

39. If an animal of which you may eat dies, anyone who touches its carcass shall be unclean until the evening.

(Leviticus chapter 11 verse 39)

With reference to the sake of sanitary purposes it is indeed wise not to come in contact with the flesh of animals that have just died for they are toxic meaning in a sever state of decomposition and therefore are unhealthy to come in contact with.

40. Those who eat of tits carcass shall wash their clothes and be unclean until the evening; and those who carry the carcass shall wash their clothes and be unclean until the evening.

(Leviticus chapter 11 verse 40)

Although those who become contaminated by the unclean carcass have the option of washing and become clean again, they will still be so called dirty by the stain of their guilt as a consequence of their wrong doing. This is similar to when we confess our sins. During the time of confession the priest in the name of God, absolves us of our sins, however when we appear before God we will still be accountable for the consequences of that sin and may have to spend time in purification in the state of purgatory before we are able and ready to appear before You oh God.

41. All creatures that swarm upon the earth are detestable; they shall not be eaten.  42. Whatever moves on its belly, and whatever moves on all fours, or whatever has many feet, all the creatures that swarm upon the earth, you shall not eat: for they are detestable. 43. You shall not make yourselves detestable with any creature that swarms: you shall not defile yourselves with them, and so become unclean.

(Leviticus chapter 11 verses 41 to 43)

Oh God You love us so much, that You do not wish us to be considered as being detestable in Your sight. This term and others as unclean are appropriate for the animals and insects but as humans created in Your form You gave us a higher and more noble identity. I thank You for this oh God with all my heart.

44. For I am the LORD your God; sanctify yourselves therefore, and be holy, for I am holy.

(Leviticus chapter 11 verse 44)

The bottom line behind all these restrictions and rules is that You oh God want us to be holy like You. All parents like their children to be like them and so do You my God as my loving father. May the goal of walking in Your ways and being like You be always on the top list of our agenda Amen.

45. For I am the LORD who brought you up from the land of Egypt, to be your God; you shall be holy, for I am holy.

(Leviticus chapter 11 verse 45)

Oh God I thank You for being my one and only Father. Thank You for claiming to be my Father and I Your son. Every parent would like his children to imitate them and be like them in the sense of sharing their positive traits. Thank You for giving us this call to be holy. I pray for Your blessing so that even though  I am a sinner I may be able to fulfil this call every day of my life, for I am still weak, however where it not possible with Your help You would not have asked us to be holy like You. Therefore we are to rest assured that if we show the will to be like You oh God You are sure to help us carry out this role and reaching this noble goal.

In light of verse 45 I invite you to click on the following links:-

Be Holy for I am holy

A Call to be Holy many are going to hell

However one may ask how can I be holy like You oh God. I tank You God for giving us the Bible as a manual on which to base my life. When I lived at the convent where I thought You were calling me to go I was given a small pocket-size book which was called "The Imitation of Christ." After so many years this book became old and tattered and of no longer good use to me. However You have given me back this book on line. Thank You for giving me an audio version of this book which will never become tattered again for even though it became tattered its message is still inscribed in my heart and mind.

Please click on the following link:- Audio book "The Imitation of Christ by John Kempis"

46. This is the law pertaining to land animal and bird and every living creature that moves through the waters and every creature that swarms upon the earth, 47. to make a distinction between the unclean and the clean, and between the living creature that may be eaten and the living creature that may not be eaten.

(Leviticus chapter 11 verses 46 to 47)

Oh God I would like to end this chapter with the following prayer:-

I thank You now and forever for giving us such wise counsel and regulations that have to do with our physical well being. I thank You also for all the messages that You have given me both for myself and to share with others for the benefit our souls in our relationship with You and our brothers and sisters on earth. May we always strive to ensure the well being of both the soul and the body, for at the end of our lives on earth, it is the soul and not the body that remains alive and immortal even on dying whether we are in heaven or even if we are in the never ending fires of hell.
